As you know, perfectly highlighted eyelashes are a staple for me, not only for big events, but also for every day wear. Unfortunately, my natural eyelashes are quite sparse, which makes me resort to cluster lashes for as long as I can remember. To make my daily makeup easier, I recently switched to DIY lash extensions. Before I found the perfect set for at-home eyelash extensions, I tested several products from top brands.
Why did I chose DIY lashes for self-application?
So far, I have tested more than one professional lash extension kit. However, each of them left much to be desired. Mainly due to the fact that the cluster lashes were quite difficult to apply, which made it take me too long to complete my makeup. So I started looking for another solution.
That’s how I came across the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit and other kits for styling eyelashes at home. Thanks to them, I found that creating stunning makeup look doesn’t have to take forever. Some kits allow you to apply the false lashes in just 10 minutes! Sound incredible? See for yourself. I’ve already tried it and I know it’s the perfect solution for me.
I tested these lash extension kits! What do I think about them?
As I mentioned in the introduction, every lash extension kit I have tested came from a top brand product. As a result, I can’t hide that my expectations from them were quite high. Before purchasing them, I did a bit of a research about them. Most of the reviews about each product were positive, but I figured I would evaluate them myself.
1. Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit
I have used other products from this brand and I never felt disappointed, so I decided to test the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit first. Inside, I found:
- 36 cluster lashes and in three lengths – 10, 12, and 14 mm,
- a bonder and a sealer – these products are necessary for applying the lashes,
- a special applicator – designed to facilitate the application and fix the ready look,
- a remover – it speeds up removing the lashes.
Nanolash claims that it takes just 10 minutes to apply these cluster lashes, and indeed, it didn’t take me a minute longer, even the first time. I must admit that I was quite surprised that it went so smoothly.
A huge advantage of the cluster lashes from Nanolash is that they are soft, which makes them much easier to apply. I didn’t have to reach for any additional tweezers in this case. The applicator included in the box was enough. Its shape immediately caught my attention. It is specially angled, which made applying the clusters completely hassle-free for me, even in the most inaccessible places.
Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit is available with cluster lashes in eight styles. There are some that provide a more natural effect and ones that guarantee really great volume. I opted for the middle option and decided on the FLIRTY lashes. Immediately after applying the case, I knew that this was it. Interestingly, they lasted for a week on my eyes, and I have a feeling that if I had cared for them more, I could have enjoyed them even longer.
2. KISS Falscara Starter Kit
The second lash extension kit I decided to test came from the KISS brand. The Falscara Starter Kit contains 10 cluster lashes, and also includes:
- BOND – a product applied to the lashes before putting on the lashes,
- SEAL – a product applied underneath the lashes so that the clusters stay in place for longer,
- an applicator – special tweezers that make it easier to apply the clusters under natural lashes.
I was tempted to try it primarily because of the possibility of resusing the cluster lashes. At least this is the information I found on their producer’s website. I was able to put on the lashes as quickly as the ones from the previous kit. The final effect was quite subtle, but that’s what I wanted. Unfortunately, that’s the end of the advantages of this product, as far as I’m concerned.
The Falscara Starter Kit doesn’t include a remover to facilitate removing the cluster lashes, nor a product to secure them overnight. As a result, although the lashes were supposed to last longer, I had dispose of them after just one use. Both of these products can be bought separately, of course. I, however, didn’t notice it at first. Later, I decided that I would look for a kit that would be more cost-effective instead.
3. Tatti Lashes Invisi-Lash Kit
Tempted by the trends, I also decided to test out the Invisi-Lash Kit from Tatti Lashes. This is a renowned and respected brand, and as a result, my expectations were high once again. The Invisi-Lash Kit comes with a choice of black or clear strips. Due to the fact that I have a dark eye frame, I opted for the number 1 option.
Moreover, when you buy the kit you have to make a choice of the shape of the clusters from 7 available styles. As usual, I opted for something in between, namely the Haute Couture lashes. In addition to the cluster lashes, the kit includes Invisi-Lash Bond and Seal Glue, plus an applicator and a small brush.
I managed to apply the cluster lashes quite efficiently. However, I must admit that this was the third set I tested, so I had more skills by now. I couldn’t find information about how long the clusters should last anywhere, and on top of that, there was no remover in the Invisi-Lash Kit either, which made me treat the lashes as if they were disposable. The kit lasted for 7 applications, so it didn’t seem too bad, but to be honest, I expected to use them longer.
4. Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit
The fourth kit I tested also had different sizes and styles of lash clusters to choose from. What’s more, the producer explicitly specified that they should last up to 5 days on the lashes, and, like Nanolash, included a remover.
The kit arrived rather quickly and I got right down to the application. In addition to the cluster lashes and the remover, the kit included: Bonder, Sealer, and an applicator.
It took me no more than a quarter of an hour to apply the lashes. After opening the case, I noticed that they didn’t look as natural as with other kits. Unfortunately, this was even more apparent after applying the cluster lashes, and wearing them made me feel uncomfortable. Perhaps lashes in a different shape would have given a better effect, but I think I’ve had enough at this point.
5. Lashify Starter Kit
How come I decided to test one more product? I found that I wanted to see how the kit from Lashify would differ from its predecessors, as its price tag was definitely higher.
I have to admit that the cluster lashes that come in the kit are indeed very soft. This made applying them a breeze, and the effect was natural.
However, the whole set contains only 10 lash clusters. I’ll admit that there could have been more for such a high price. I used them all up during the very first application, and it was probably the most makeup in my life. The only advantage was that with proper care, I managed to keep them on my eyes for 5 days.
Which lash extension kit will stay with me long-term?
After testing all the products, I had no doubts about which kit to buy again. I was most impressed with the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit. I’m going to two wedding parties soon, so I plan to buy it with slightly more voluminous cluster lash style. The kit has met my expectations in every way, so I can recommend it to all of you with a clear conscience.
As for the other products, I was also satisfied with them, but no other lash-styling starter kit allowed me to apply the cluster lashes as fast as the one from Nanolash. Besides, I was already familiar with the brand and liked its products. I hope that if you decide to test these lashes yourself, you will be equally satisfied with them.
